Optical coherence tomography (OCT) has become the central imaging technology in retinal diagnostics. Based on interferometry, smallest retinal structures can be visualized as cross-sectional images and the thickness of the retina and other structures can be quantified. OCT provides valuable information in diagnosis and therapy of retinal diseases such as AMD, diabetic retinopathy, vitreoretinal traction. Furthermore, accurate measurement of retinal thickness allows quantification in macular edema or glaucoma. In the workshop, interactively presented case studies will demonstrate the limitations and possibilities of OCT.
